Caution - Spring has sprung early

Vancouver is known to be one of the warmer parts of Canada. Spring has sprung several weeks early this year. Cherry blossoms are everywhere. It’s beautiful – even in the rain and grey.

However, for those of you that are still knee-deep in snow and cursing us – you are actually in a better position. Apparently Spring kills. More people die of hypothermia in spring and summer than in winter (Why cotton kills).

Then there is the concern of the ubiquitous deadly daffodil (The dangers of Spring). Don't even think of sucking on the cut end.

And of course there’s hay fever – Kleenex anyone?

So in between sneezing and wondering whether it’s safe to wear sandals and cotton, I’ve been inspired to illustrate some of the beauty of the BC buds – no not those, the OTHER ones.

For those of you that can’t physically experience the unusual spring-like warmth, you can participate in some illustration or writing events.  If you are a poet, you can enter the Haiku Invitational  as of March 1, 2015. This year’s theme is “Connections”.
