The "Leaf" image involved using salt mixed with the background blue colour. This gave it the bubbled texture. I then dropped blobs of ink onto the dried background. With both the "Leaf" and "Fall leaves" images, I took an actual leaf, painted ink on it. I then used the art-making frottage technique to transfer the inked leaf to the composition. Finally, I used various pigment liner pens to draw out the details of the illustration.
The "Flower" image is a combination of using painted ink over a mask.
The "Stuffed pepper" image is mainly heavily layered ink with the use of pigment liner pens. Ink was applied, and then quickly dried with a hairdryer before another layer was added. I worked with a damp brush to allow for some blending of colour. This image was also submitted to Illustration Friday for the theme of Stuffed.
